TREKKING DURATION

The trekking usually starts in the morning and finishes on the fourth day around midday after the river tubing activity back to Bukit Lawang village.

ITINERARY

Day 1 – Jungle Trekking Adventure
The journey begins at 8:30 AM when our guide picks you up directly from your hotel or guesthouse in Bukit Lawang village. Shortly after at 8:50 AM, we gather at the Bukit Lawang Orangutan Tour meeting point for a short briefing about the trekking program and safety guidelines inside Gunung Leuser National Park.
By 9:00 AM, we step into the rainforest and the adventure truly begins. The trail winds deep into the jungle as we search for wild Sumatran orangutans and other fascinating wildlife along the way. Our guide will share knowledge about the jungle plants, animals, and the incredible rainforest ecosystem that makes this place so special. Around midday, we pause for a refreshing break to enjoy fresh tropical fruits prepared by the guide. After lunch, the trek continues deeper into the rainforest until we reach our first jungle campsite nestled near the river. As evening falls, our guide prepares a delicious dinner while the sounds of the jungle surround us, setting the perfect atmosphere for our first night camping under the stars.

Day 2 – Deeper Rainforest Exploration
The morning opens with a warm breakfast before we set off once again, trekking deeper into parts of the rainforest that are more natural and remote. This area of the forest is rich with wildlife, offering great opportunities to spot monkeys, tropical birds, and other incredible creatures in their natural habitat. Along the trail, our guide will point out fascinating jungle plants and explain how local communities have traditionally used them for medicine. Around midday we stop to enjoy lunch amidst the peaceful and serene jungle surroundings. By afternoon, we arrive at our second jungle campsite where you are free to relax, take a swim in the river, or wander through the surrounding forest. Our guide rounds off the day with another satisfying dinner as we settle in for our second night deep in the jungle.

Day 3 – Jungle Adventure & Wildlife Search
Waking up to the sounds of the rainforest, we enjoy breakfast before heading out to explore yet another part of the jungle. Today’s trek brings new landscapes and fresh opportunities to encounter orangutans and other wildlife, with our guide on hand to explain the natural environment and point out animals along the way. We stop during the trek for lunch and a restful break before continuing our journey to the third jungle campsite. The evening is once again filled with the warmth of a delicious jungle dinner prepared by our guide, as we spend our third and final night camping beneath the vast rainforest canopy.

Day 4 – Jungle Walk & River Tubing
After a hearty breakfast, we head out for one last short morning trek through the jungle before making our way to the riverside. Late in the morning, the excitement builds as we begin the river tubing adventure — one of the most anticipated highlights of the entire experience. Sitting on large rubber tubes tied together, we drift leisurely down the Bahorok River while taking in the breathtaking rainforest scenery stretching out on both sides. It is the perfect combination of fun and relaxation to bring an unforgettable jungle journey to a close. The river tubing delivers us back to Bukit Lawang village, typically around 12:00 to 1:00 PM, conveniently near your accommodation.
