My name is Alwansyah, founder of Explore Sumatra’s Wonders and a local jungle guide from Bukit Lawang, North Sumatra.

My journey into the rainforest did not begin with tourism — it began with my father.

For more than 35 years, my father worked as a jungle guide in Bukit Lawang, leading travelers through the incredible rainforest of Gunung Leuser National Park long before this place became known around the world. As a child, I often followed him into the jungle, learning about the forest in the most natural way — by walking beside him.

While other children were playing in the village, the rainforest became my classroom. I learned to recognize animal tracks, understand the sounds of the jungle, observe wildlife behavior, and move through the forest with respect for nature.

The rainforest is not something to conquer — it is something to understand and protect.

Today, I proudly continue my father’s legacy as a licensed jungle guide certified by HPI (Indonesian Tour Guide Association). My guiding combines traditional local knowledge passed down through generations with professional guiding standards to ensure every trek is safe, ethical, and unforgettable.

When you explore the jungle with me, you are not walking with someone who only learned from training or books.
You are walking with someone who grew up in the rainforest.

My goal is simple: to share the true beauty of Sumatra’s jungle, protect its wildlife, and create meaningful experiences for travelers who want to discover one of the last great rainforests on Earth.

For me, the forest is not just a workplace.
It is my heritage, my passion, and my life.
