Day 1 – Jungle Trekking Adventure
The journey begins at 8:30 AM when our guide picks you up directly from your hotel or guesthouse in Bukit Lawang village. Shortly after at 8:50 AM, we gather at the Bukit Lawang Orangutan Tour meeting point for a short briefing about the trekking program and safety guidelines inside Gunung Leuser National Park. By 9:00 AM, we step into the rainforest and the adventure truly begins. Winding through beautiful jungle trails, we search for wild Sumatran orangutans and other fascinating wildlife along the way. Our guide will share knowledge about the jungle plants, animals, and the rainforest ecosystem that makes this place so extraordinary. Around midday, we pause for a refreshing break to enjoy fresh tropical fruits prepared by the guide. After lunch, the trek continues deeper into the rainforest until we reach our first jungle campsite nestled near the river. As evening falls, our guide prepares a delicious dinner while the sounds of the jungle set the perfect atmosphere for our first night camping under the stars.
Day 2 – Rainforest Exploration
After a warm breakfast, we set off once again into the jungle, venturing deeper into parts of the forest that are more natural and far less visited by tourists. This stretch of the trek offers wonderful opportunities to spot monkeys, birds, and other rainforest wildlife in their undisturbed habitat. Along the trail, our guide will point out fascinating jungle plants and share their traditional uses among local communities. Around midday we stop for a well-deserved lunch and rest before pressing on through the lush greenery. By afternoon, we arrive at our second jungle campsite, where we spend our second night surrounded by the peaceful sounds of the rainforest.
Day 3 – Jungle Adventure
Waking up to the symphony of the rainforest, we enjoy breakfast prepared by our guide before heading out to explore yet another part of the jungle. Today’s trek brings fresh landscapes and new opportunities to encounter orangutans and other wildlife, with our guide on hand to explain the natural environment and help spot animals along the way. The beauty of the rainforest unfolds at every turn, making every step of the journey truly rewarding. By afternoon, we arrive at our third jungle campsite where we take time to relax and recharge over a delicious dinner prepared by our guide, before spending another memorable night in the heart of the jungle.
Day 4 – Deeper Jungle Experience
After breakfast, we continue our trek along remote jungle trails where the rainforest feels truly wild and untouched. This day offers a rare chance to experience the genuine wilderness of Gunung Leuser National Park, far from the beaten path and full of natural wonders waiting to be discovered. Wildlife sightings become even more rewarding as we move through scenery that few travellers ever get to witness. After stopping for lunch along the way, we continue our journey until we reach our fourth jungle campsite beside the river. Our guide rounds off the evening with another hearty dinner as we settle in for our fourth night camping deep in the jungle.
Day 5 – Jungle Walk & River Tubing
After a satisfying breakfast, we head out for one final short morning trek through the jungle before making our way back to the riverside. Late in the morning, the excitement builds as we launch into the river tubing adventure — one of the most celebrated highlights of the entire journey. Sitting comfortably on large rubber tubes tied together, we float leisurely down the Bahorok River while soaking in the stunning rainforest scenery stretching out on both sides. It is the perfect blend of fun and relaxation to bring a truly unforgettable jungle experience to a close. The river tubing delivers us back to Bukit Lawang village, typically arriving around 12:00 to 1:00 PM, conveniently near your accommodation.
